I had a lot of fun making these two stop motion animations.
This video (below) is of the short 10 minute stop motion animation that I made to figure out how to use the app. I made an even worse animation that I have decided not to post, it was really just a false start that allowed me to iron out some questions about the app: Stop Motion Studio.
Most nights I make tea and this allowed me to both make my tea and make an animation!
My headphones allowed me to click on the plus button to take a photo without moving my iPhone or iPad.
I sat my iPhone on top of this watering can because I don't own a tripod (phone is not pictured because I needed to use it to take this photo).
The second video I made is a lot more important to me. I have collected a little bit of clay from a beach near where I grew up. My best friend and I used to find this clay at the beach and I meant to use it for a class earlier this year. I like this clay as a medium because the earthiness reminds me very much of my childhood, especially the smell.
I ran into a few problems, the first was that I wanted to spell with some stamps but found that the clay did not show the letter well. The second was that I realised that I did not have a stamp for the letter "o"! I improvised with a bit of brass pipe that my dad had laying around.
This was inspired by John Dewey!
This is what I used for lighting! I wanted dramatic lighting and had fun with shadows from this Ikea shelf.
I balanced my iPad on this shelf!
It was a messy process.
This is what I was dumping the stored clay out of and these are the stamps that I used.
