Final Project Brainstorm & A New Game

I can't really remember the last time I played a video game but this week a friend showed me "Among Us". It is in 2D but playing it gave me some fun ideas! I liked thinking about what was easily understood or intuitive and what was difficult to figure out. I am excited to think more about how we navigate games.

What are some elements you’d like to include?

I want to create a game in unity that is centred around the potential negative effects of climate change. My game will be single player and will consist of two scenes. The two scenes I am interested in creating are one utopia nature scene and one post apocalyptic or environmental disaster scene.

What type of world would you like to create?

I want the game to start out with a beautiful nature scape (with flowers like this) that the player can walk through and enjoy. As they click on stuff they will navigate through the world. The more they use and consume the closer they get to the bad scene and the more good stuff they do the longer they can stay in the good scene.

After the nature scape you go into a post apocalyptic world where there are horrible things and the game ends rather quickly after that. My motivation would be to show (in a scary, visceral way) the potential dangers of not being actively aware of climate change.

What would you like the user to experience?

Ultimately I want my game to be as intuitive as possible because I think that would be more satisfying. I would like general navigation and play to be easy but winning should be difficult. In order to navigate the game you will continuously click on objects that light up (if I can do that!). As you continually click on the objects you navigate through the scene. I would like for there to be a massive explosion when the player dies.
